Signing Up For A Broadband Internet Service

July, 2010

You have started on your path to choosing the best broadband internet package by comparing offers from all the providers you have searched.

Although it's nice to get connected as quickly as possible, there are some other considerations before you go ahead and sign up and once you get your first bill.

Consolidating Services

If you are already getting a connection through a Broadband Internet provider, there may be a fee to switch over if you have an existing contract - for example, a 2 or 3-year contract that you try to change in the first year.

If you are signing up for the first time, the company may require a deposit or a proof of employment or credit check.

Also, you may be able to get a lower price if you get your telephone, TV, and mobile phone packages through the same provider, so consider your broadband in light of your other bills and see if there are overall savings by consolidating providers. Bear in mind that it's also easier to avoid missing payments when you get everything on one bill!

Before signing any paperwork always review contracts carefully to make sure that you understand all the terms of the deal.

Check The First Bill!

Once you're all connected and using your service, watch your bill when it comes the next month. Check how much you actually downloaded and consider upgrading or downgrading your download amount based on what you actually used in that month.
